My favorite Firefox extensions
This is a list of Firefox extensions I personally use. You might find some of them helpful too.
Ad-Blocking:
[uBlock Origin]The GOAT Ad-blocker. Really a must-have. I haven't seen an ad in my browser for years thanks to it. To make it work better go to its settings and then into "Filter lists" and simply check every option that you think is suitable for you
Privacy and Security:
[Privacy Badger] blocks trackers.
[Decentraleyes] protects against tracking through “free” centralized content delivery.
[Port Authority] blocks all possible types of port scanning.
[ClearURLs] automatically removes tracking parameters from URLs.
[Age Verification bypass] skips the age verification screens on various platforms
Having this much privacy extensions might seem redundant (and it probably is, considering some of those overlap with uBlock Origin in their functionality), but some of them might grab your attention.
YouTube tweaks:
[SponsorBlock] lets you skip sponsorships and other annoying parts of videos.
[YouTube Anti Translate] disables the annoying video titles/audio/descriptions autotranslation.
[Return YouTube Dislike] returns ability to see dislikes.
[Show YouTube Video Upload Date] shows full upload dates.
I can't imagine watching YouTube without those, it'd probably feel like a torture. Especially those AI translations that are forced on everyone and cannot be turned off using official ways. Seriously who thought that'd be a good idea? Probably some monolingul beta
Other:
[Yomitan] is a popup dictionary for language learning. When you hover over the word and press the modifier key it shows a small dictionary window. You might want to use a combination rather than a single key as a modifier, and configuring this is somewhat complicated: first, navigate to the Yomitan settings and enable the “Advanced” option. Then go to the “Scanning” section and click “Configure advanced scanning inputs”. If you think this is not complicated at all - I disagree with you. I didn't notice the "Advanced" toggle first and didnt know it existed and so spent quite a while trying to find a way to use a key combination as a scan modifier. Seriously the "advanced" toggle was supposed to make configuration simpler but turned out to make it more complex instead.
